Discovery Trail
Arcadia Court is just a block away from the Discovery Trail, which runs from Ilwaco through Long Beach. Mostly paved, the Trail is an excellent walking or biking route with a great view of the ocean for the Long Beach and Seaview stretch. Benches and statues commemorating the Lewis and Clark Expedition make for an interesting meander and provide wonderful picnicking spots.
Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center
The
Lewis & Clark Expedition successfully ended on the Long Beach
Peninsula with their discovery of the Pacific Ocean. Original journal
entries, photo murals, artwork and displays depict not only the
exciting and difficult journey of the explorers, but also the many contributions made
by the Native American communities along the way.

Cape Disappointment and North Head Lighthouses
The Cape Disappointment Lighthouse has guarded the “Graveyard of the Pacific” at the Southwestern tip of Washington State since 1856. The North Head Lighthouse was built in 1898 to provide safer passage to ships approaching from the North. The views to sea from either point are awe-inspiring in any weather.
Nahcotta and Ostyerville
Nahcotta
is named for the Chinook Indian Chief Nahcati. The Willapa Bay
Interpretive Center, which is designed as a replica of an oyster
station, offers one of the few publicly-owned points of access to the
shores of Willapa Bay. Oysterville was awarded a place on the National
Register of Historic Places for its 19th Century oyster boom and bust
– the town’s fortunes rose and fell with the discovery and later
exhausting of the supply of the delectable bivalves. Oysterville has
since made a tasty comeback and is once again a center of oyster
production. |

The World Kite Museum & Kitefest
The
World Kite Museum and Hall of Fame is the country’s only museum
dedicated to the history of kites, their makers, and flyers. January welcomes the Windless Kite Festival, held indoors. Arcadia Court's the place to be in mid-August when the largest International Kite Festival in the world is held just a quick walk up the street at the Bolstad Beach Approach. |

Razor Clamming
Digging for razor clams is a seasonal activity for the whole family to enjoy. Check with the WDFW
for the current approved tide dates, regulations and licensing requirements. Bring
or rent a clam shovel and container in which to keep your clams. In
fall and winter, when clam tides occur after dark, the sight of diggers working by lantern light is truly breathtaking. |

Fourth of July
Fireworks over the ocean! Topping off an array of activities celebrating the holiday, the official show is just off the boardwalk - but many "independent contractors" bring their own fireworks and set them off a safe distance from the dunes before and after. |
